Mr. Santosh Kumar Ray is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, International Centre, Muscat, Oman. He received his B.Tech (Mining Enginnering) in the year 2000 from Indian School of Mines (ISM), Dhanbad, India. He completed his M.Tech in Computer Application from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi, India in the year 2001. He has seven International Research Publications in his name. His research interests are Information retrieval, Natural Language Processing, Algorithms, and Automata Theory. He has written a book titled “Formal Languages and Automata Theory”. During his research career, he has published more than 21 research articles in national, international conferences, journals, and books. He also contributed as an associate editor of a book published by Springer Verlag on Soft-Computing in Business. He acted as a program committee member for several conferences like IICAI, AIPR, EISWT, ICADIWT, RSFDGrC and reviewed research papers for them. He led Samsung’s Intellectual Property team aggressively and filed more than 100 patents. Among 100 Patents, he filed 10 Patents related to electronic display device applications. He is having broad area of research interests varying from Text Information Retrieval to Image and Video Retrieval, Question Answering to Recommender Systems, Feature Space expansion to ranking of documents/images/videos, developed algorithms using Ontologies, WordNet, Fuzzy Sets, Rough Sets, and other soft computing techniques.  He can be contacted at shailendra.s@samsung.com.
